Great Chishill Barn Conversion

A Unique Opportunity

Wetstones were thrilled to be part of an amazing build in Great Chishill in South Cambridgeshire, helping to create a series of stunning barn conversions.

Part of a working farm, the old barns and the land they stood on were sold to the development team with a view to making the most out of the best views in Cambridgeshire.

The vision was simple. Two single storey properties and two larger homes that kept the charm of the original structures but were to be transformed into modern, functional, beautiful living spaces.

Each home was to have multiple bathroom elements and would include a family bathroom as well as en-suites.

Wetstones was on the case.

Design

Our dedicated Project Manager worked in tandem with the development team and architects to draw up initial plans. We wanted each bathroom to have a luxury, uncluttered feel, which made best use of available space.

Looking in detail at every room, we worked with our suppliers to see which products would work best, and which finishes would complement different tiling elements. We wanted an overarching style throughout, but that used variations to differentiate the final look in each room.

Where size allowed, we sourced some fantastic statement pieces, like the freestanding baths in the executive en-suites. And where size was limited, we made sure that we used elements that were designed for use in small spaces, to maximise functionality. For example, throughout the units, we were faced with bathrooms of varying sizes and layouts.

This meant some creative design in conjunction with Merlyn Showering. Their wide range of shower trays and doors allowed us to use every millimetre of available space in each room. Within each unit, we added concealed shower systems for a minimalist, uncluttered look. Our choice throughout was the Hansgrohe Raindance shower unit with overhead and hand shower options in white and chrome, all controlled via the Ecostat E Thermostatic mixer.
